David Benedek
The founder

Born in Paris in 1989 to a father of Romanian origin and a mother born on the border between Algeria and Morocco, David Benedek grew up in the world of perfumery. His grandparents, exiles from Transylvania, were among the first people authorized to distribute big-name perfumes such as Worth and Christian Dior in Paris in the 1950s. They went on to specialize in the sale of perfumes and luxury goods to foreign customers visiting the capital, opening their first boutique in the 1960s on the corner of rue royale and rue saint honoré. From father to son, the family's expertise in perfumes developed over the years. David studied economics, then moved to Beijing and New York in 2010 for his studies. On his return, he joins the Institut Français de la Mode in 2012, where he specializes in the world of perfume and cosmetics. For over a year, he learns to recognize the main raw materials, olfactory families and their facets, before perfecting his skills in the steps required to create fragrances. Smelling, discovering, recognizing, he familiarizes himself with the subtleties of this universe with the Givaudan teams.
A passion that gradually turned into a need: to make it his profession. He then decided to continue his apprenticeship with the Cinquième Sens Institute, which helped him shape his olfactory universe, the cornerstone of the BDK Parfums perfume house.

From each unique fragrance comes a personality, a way of being. From this personality springs an allure, movements that give free rein to the imagination, to the telling of a particular story.

Olfactory
Approach

Our fragrances are different because they are designed from the heart. Our library resembles that of a modern bookstore. We create our fragrances like a perfumery apothecary. Our writing is different because we seek the perfect balance. Our scents express themselves through singular olfactory facets. From the outset, the idea was to work around a main raw material in order to personify it, but also to transcribe aspirational characters. This initial idea then becomes the conductor of the singular olfactory facets that characterize each BDK Parfums fragrance. From each unique fragrance springs a personality, a way of being. As the most beautiful stories can only come from the most beautiful raw materials, BDK Parfums chooses to let them express themselves fully, with elegance, in each of its creations. That's why all the perfume concentrates we use are made in the Grasse region.

At last, the box, similar to a bookbinding, is crafted by a family business in the Le Mans region. The ink is of natural origin and the paper, dyed in the mass, is recycled.
